Arsenal could make a move to sign Jesse Lingard from Manchester United when the next transfer window opens, according to Tom Worville of The Athletic.
Once considered a talented youngster, the 27-year-old can only be said to have failed to meet the expectations. At the age when any player is arguably supposed to be at his best, Lingard seems to have regressed rather than progressed in the last few years. He only managed to rack up two assists and goals apiece in 35 appearances this season, and it has been reported that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is finally ready to cut the cord.
Arsenal, on the other hand, find themselves in a bit of a difficulty. They were obviously hoping to retain the services of Dani Ceballos on a permanent basis, but given the financial issues the Coronavirus pandemic has hit all clubs with, they apparently don’t have the £40 million needed to make it happen.
Therefore, they might turn to Lingard who should be much cheaper than that, with the Gunners already having a good relationship with United in terms of transfers and their head of football Raul Sanllehi being on good terms with Lingard’s agent, Mino Raiola.
