Arsenal are interested in signing Sam Johnstone from West Bromwich Albion in the summer transfer window, according to The Athletic. It has been reported that the Gunners are looking at the 28-year-old as an alternative to Sheffield United’s Aaron Ramsdale.
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal want to sign Ramsdale to compete with first-choice goalkeeper Bernd Leno. However, the North London club are also looking as Johnstone as a possible signing instead of his English compatriot. Tottenham Hotspur are also reported to be interested in the 28-year-old.
Johnstone played well for West Brom, who got relegated to the Championship from the Premier League at the end of last season. The 28-year-old is a very good goalkeeper who is at the top of his game at the moment and would be able to make an immediate impact at Arsenal.
