Arsenal are interested in signing Luka Jovic from Real Madrid, as a replacement for Alexandre Lacazette, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.
Lacazette is in the final season of his contract at the Emirates, and there is still no news about a potential renewal. He has so far made only two Premier League appearances this season, both off the bench. His only start of the term came in the Carabao Cup against AFC Wimbledon on September 22nd, when he scored and assisted in a 3-0 win while wearing the captain’s armband.
As for Jovic, the 23-year-old Serbia international has never really hit top gear since he joined Real from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2019 for over €60m. In all fairness, he’s been competing against Karim Benzema for the starting spot, and that’s a race he was never likely to win. He is yet to start a single competitive game this season, and if Real end up signing either of their top two attacking targets next summer (Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland), Jovic likely won’t have a place in the squad at all.
There have been reports claiming Jovic has already told the club he wants to leave the Spanish capital as soon as possible.
