The Mirror understands that Arsenal are considering a move for Southampton’s Calum Chambers as they prepare for life without Bacary Sagna, who looks increasingly like leaving the Emirates at the end of the season.
The 19 year old is one of a number of youth products from the Saints acclaimed academy to have broken into the first team this season.
He made his Premier League debut in the 1-0 win at West Bromwich Albion on the opening day of the season, and has gone on to make sixteen appearances in all competitions.
Should Chambers, who has been capped for England at under 19 level, make the switch he would be the third player from the South Coast club to move to the Gunners as a teenager in the past decade, with Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain transferring in 2006 and 2011 respectively.
Arsenal slipped to second place in the Premier League yesterday having been thumped 5-1 by Liverpool at Anfield.
