According to a recent report from Marca, Arsenal are currently still monitoring the progress of Getafe defender Djene Dakonam ahead of a potential move for him this summer. It’s no secret that the Gunners have had some serious issues when it comes to defensive shortcomings throughout the course of the season, and at this stage, it genuinely feels like it’s just a matter of time before the supposed ‘deadwood’ is removed from the club in favour of some new faces. The 27 year old defender currently has a £30 million buyout clause in his current contract, which is a figure that Arsenal will almost certainly be more than willing to meet. As we saw last season Unai Emery tends to like getting a lot of his business done early, so if this deal is indeed realistic, then we’d expect to see confirmation come through within a few weeks of the season ending.
