Legendary Arsenal striker Ian Wright has urged Theo Walcott to leave the North London club for “for his own sake” in order to finish his career on a high, according to the Evening Standard.
Speaking on Sky Sports Wright said: “I’m not sure where he can go now with Arsenal and he’s only playing in the Carabao Cup and the Europa League. He’ll want to finish on a high.”
This season marks Walcott’s 13th campaign in an Arsenal shirt and the England international’s game time has been slowly dwindling over the past few seasons. Despite captaining his side in their midweek win over Norwich in the Carabao Cup, Walcott has not started a Premier League game this season and that doesn’t look set to change with Arsene Wenger sticking with the three-at-the-back system.
The winger’s current contract is set to expire at the end of next season and it may well be in Walcott’s best interest to engineer a move away from North London.
