Arsenal improve Martinez bid

According to a recent report from Sky Sports, Arsenal have been linked with an improved bid to sign Lisandro Martinez.

Mikel Arteta is said to be ‘determined’ to sign the Argentine defender as the club attempts to build some strength at the back ahead of what is bound to be another tasking season. So far, they’ve had a decent start to the summer transfer window, but this Ajax star would be the kind of addition that really helps them announce to the rest of the league that they mean business.

Arsenal failed to make it into the top four last season which means they’re going to be resigned to the Europa League as opposed to their ultimate goal of the Champions League. Still, they appear to possess the name value necessary to draw solid players to the Premier League, and they seem to be just a few players away from getting a squad with actual depth behind it.
