Arsenal have made an improved bid for Kieran Tierney of Celtic, according to Sky Sports.
The Gunners had a bid of £15 million rejected for the Scottish fullback, but they’ve decided to get more serious in their pursuit and have significantly improved their offer, which now stands at £25 million.
Unai Emery seems very keen on adding defensive reinforcements to his ranks as the club close in on a deal to sign centre-back William Saliba of Lille, though that particular piece of business may yet get thwarted by Tottenham Hotspur, who have apparently also held talks with the French side. Should both clubs have offers accepted, the player himself would be able to choose his destination and the fact that Spurs will be playing in the Champions League this season would give them an important advantage.
Celtic boss Neil Lennon revealed that further departures from his team are possible, despite eight players having left already. Tierney is currently recovering from surgery after hernia problems troubled him throughout the 2018/19 season, and it remains to be seen if he will rejoin his team upon recovery, or the club will deem £25 million as a fair price for his services.
