Arsenal have joined the race to secure the services of Everton midfielder Ross Barkley, according to the Mail Online.
The Gunners’ North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur had already been linked with a move for the England international, who has just one year remaining on his current contract and now Arsene Wenger has thrown his hat into the ring.
Chelsea and Manchester City are also waiting in the rings as they each look to bolster their home-grown contingent ahead of next season.
Barkley was dropped to the bench as the Toffees lost to Swansea City in Saturday’s late kick-off and is likely to be sold if he doesn’t put pen to paper on a new deal at Goodison Park.
Since breaking into their first team, Barkley has racked up one hundred and seventy-seven appearances for Everton in all competitions, scoring twenty-six goals while he has been capped twenty-two times for his country.
