Arsenal have approached Real Madrid with a loan offer for Martin Odegaard, according to Sky Sports.
The Gunners have been trying to add an attacking midfielder to their ranks for a while now. They missed out on signing Houssem Aouar from Olympique Lyon late in the transfer window last summer, and though there had been reports afterwards claiming they would try again, the trail has gone cold since.
Odegaard returned to Madrid last summer after impressing on loan at Real Sociedad last season, but there’s still no place for him in Zinedine Zidane’s plans this term except as a contingency in case of a large number of injuries, which is something the 22-year-old Norwegian isn’t willing to accept and he has already asked to leave the Spanish capital on a temporary basis this month.
His potential move to Arsenal is far from being a done deal though, with Arsenal facing strong competition from the likes of Sociedad and Leicester City.
