English newspaper Daily Star understands that Arsenal are stepping up their efforts to sign Hellas Verona midfielder Jorginho.
The Brazilian-born footballer has caught the eye of top Italian sides with his performances in Serie B last term and he has continued to impress since the Gialloblu were promoted to the elite division.
Juventus, Fiorentina and Liverpool are all being linked with January bids for the 21-year-old midfielder, but Arsenal have reportedly moved to pole position of late.
According to Daily Star, the Gunners are prepared to offer around £10 million to lure Jorginho to the Emirates.
The same source claims Arsenal officials have already held talks with the player’s agents, which is enough to suggest the transfer is close to fruition.
The Gunners return into Premier League action on Saturday as they play host to out-of-sorts Norwich, with the hosts 8/9 to win the match by two goals or more.
