The representatives of Wilfried Zaha of Crystal Palace have held initial talks with Arsenal over a possible transfer, according to Sky Sports.
It was reported back in May that the winger had informed his club about his wish to leave Selhurst Park this summer, and a number of links appeared straight away in the media, including a potential return to Manchester United. However, it has recently emerged that Arsenal are actually the frontrunners for his signature.
Zaha spoke in the past about his dream to experience Champions League football, which the Gunners won’t be playing next season after missing out on top four and losing the Europa League final to Chelsea. But it seems that him being an Arsenal supporter since childhood has prevailed over the wish to appear in UEFA’s elite competition in 2019/20, and if the two clubs can find a common ground, he may make his move to the Emirates soon.
However, that is where the snag is, apparently. The Eagles have already lost Aaron Wan-Bissaka to United and would like to keep Zaha, so they’ve set a high asking price for the Ivorian – £80 million. Arsenal are now expected to make a bid.
