Arsenal join Barella chase

Arsenal have joined the race to sign Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella, according to the Metro.

The twenty-two-year old, who is also a target for fellow London outfit Chelsea scored in front of Gunners’ scouts as Italy beat Finland on Saturday – his first international goal.

At club level, Barella is closing in on one hundred performances for the Sardinians in all competitions, while he has scored seven goals.

He has spent his whole career with the Serie A side, aside from a brief loan spell with Como in the 2015-16 campaign.

The Italy international is valued at around £43m, with a host of other potential suitors expected to attempt to secure his services once the transfer window reopens.

He could win his sixth senior cap against Liechtenstein as the Euro 2020 qualifiers continue on Tuesday evening, and can be backed at 11/1 to get the first goal of the game.
