Sky Sports Italy has reported that Premier League outfit Arsenal have submitted a £35 million offer in an attempt to land the Juventus defender Mehdi Benatia.
Arsene Wenger is looking to bolster his squad during the January transfer market and is apparently eager to add solidity in central defence.
The experienced tactician had initially been linked to Daniele Rugani but the latest reports claim that it is the Morocco international who Wenger is keen on.
Benatia only joined Juventus on a permanent deal from Bayern Munich at the end of last season and Sky Sports Italia adds that Juventus have already rebuffed Arsenal’s approach for the Morocco international.
The 30-year-old defender has been used sporadically this season, having appeared in only 8 Serie A fixtures. He managed to score two goals and add five more appearances in the Champions League for Bianconeri.
