According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, Arsenal are leading the race to sign Sporting Lisbon defender Goncalo Inacio, with Liverpool interested in the services of the 22-year-old as well. Inacio has also been linked with Real Madrid and Manchester United.
As for Liverpool, they are apparently looking at Inacio as a possible candidate to strengthen their left defensive flank in light of injuries suffered by their two primary options in the role, Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas, even though Inacio predominantly plays as a centre-back. But despite their consideration of the player, Arsenal, who don’t have a designated left-back at all among the names at Mikel Arteta’s disposal, are ahead in the race. For the Gunners, it’s mostly been Ukrainian midfielder Oleksandr Zinchenko there, or Japan international Tahekiro Tomiyasu, who is also injured and isn’t expected back for another month.
Sporting, meanwhile, remain unwilling to part with Inacio for anything less than his release clause, which amounts to €60 million, and his contract with the Lisbon club runs until the summer of 2027.
