Arsenal have been linked with a move for Manchester City central defender Aymeric Laporte. The Mirror has reported that Arsenal defender Gabriel has interest from Saudi Arabia. The Gunners, though, have yet to receive a firm bid for the Brazilian, who was left out of their team for the opening Premier League game of the season against Nottingham Forest at the Emirates Stadium in North London this past weekend.
Although it is not clear if Arsenal would be willing to sell Gabriel and for how much, the Gunners do have an eye on Laporte as a potential replacement for the Brazilian. The Spain international central defender has fallen down the pecking order at City, who won the Premier League, the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League last season.
Laporte has been on the books of City since 2018 when he joined from Athletic Bilbao. During his time at the Etihad Stadium, the 29-year-old Spain international centre-back has won the Premier League title five times, the FA Cup twice, the EFL Cup on three occasions, and the UEFA Champions League once.
