Arsenal loan Wellington Silva to Bolton

Bolton Wanderers have completed the signing of Arsenal winger Wellington Silva on a season-long loan deal.

Bolton Wanderers have completed the signing of Arsenal winger Wellington Silva on a season-long loan deal.

Silva, who joined Arsenal from Fluminense in 2010, has previously spent time on loan at Levante, Alcoyano, Ponferradina, Murcia and Almería.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is expecting the Brazil Under-21 international to impress in the Sky Bet Championship this season.

“He’s a creative, tricky, quick player,” Wenger told the club’s official website. “He’s absolutely stunning to watch and I believe Bolton will be surprised by his quality.

“I believe he will do extremely well because he has gained a lot of experience in Spain, he has come back to England and I am confident he will have a big impact in the Championship.”

Lukaku: Stones should stay

Everton forward Romelu Lukaku has urged John Stones to stay at Goodison Park amid ongoing reports linking the player with a move to English Premier League champions Chelsea.

The Belgium international, who left West London for Merseyside in a deal worth £28 million in the summer of 2014, believes that Everton is the right club for Stones to further his development ahead of next summer’s European Championship in France.

“To be fair, John is in a good situation at a good club which believes in him,” Lukaku said.

“He is playing and is learning a lot from Phil Jagielka. He’s been here two years now but this is the year where he really needs to confirm he is the top player he can be.

“This club has massive potential, with the players we have and the ambition the manager has. He is in a good place. He’s on to a good thing.

“We are young, but we have a lot of potential. We had a great first year when I came here. Last year we had a very hard year, a very, very tough year.

“But we’ll learn from it. He’s in a good situation. He needs to keep on doing what he’s doing. He has the Euros coming up, so why go?”

Chelsea have already had two bids, the first worth £25 million and the second £30 million, rejected for Stones but many pundits are expecting the Blues to increase their offer for the highly-rated defender before the close of the transfer window.

Meanwhile, according to reports, Manchester United have also emerged as potential suitors for the 21-year-old England international, who has started both of the Toffees’ Premier League matches this season.
