Arsenal wanted to sign Junior Firpo from Barcelona on transfer deadline day, according to Mundo Deportivo. It has been reported that the Gunners made a move for the 24-year-old left-back on the final day of the window.
AC Milan wanted to sign Firpo earlier in the January transfer window, but Barcelona were not happy with the offer from the Italian giants about a loan move. Arsenal came forward with an offer in the final hours of the window, but Spanish and European giants Barcelona decided to turn them down as well.
Arsenal were in the market for a left-back as cover for Kieran Tierney after Sead Kolasinac left on loan for Schalke in the January transfer window. Tierney is injured at the moment, but the Scotland international is one of the best left-backs in the Premier League. However, the Gunners could have done with an able back-up, with Cedric Soares currently playing at left-back despite being a right-back by trade.
