Arsenal youngster Jack Wilshere looks set to sign a lucrative five-year contract at the Emirates Stadium.
The 18 year-old currently has just 18 months to run on his contract and if he doesn’t sign a new deal soon there will be speculation over his future.
Assurances
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is confident that the England international will sign a deal with the Gunners. He told Sky Sports: “We are confident that we will sign Jack very quickly,”
“He has 18 months to go. I will try to get him on a longer one. We hope we can announce that soon.”
Talented
Wilshere is one of the best up and coming English players, if not the best. Wilshere has already been compared to Paul Gascoigne and Wenger has also compared his maturity to Wayne Rooney’s at 18. Wilshere is a naturally skilful player and naturally skilful English players are few and far between.
He is not only talented but seems to have a very level head. That’s a really good quality in youngster and one which will help him develop into a top player. Wenger also described the youngster as a ‘quiet guy’, which makes a change from the big-ego youngsters who think they are big shots when they’ve played a couple of games.
Future
The 18 year-old has the potential to be one of the best players in the Premier League. He is also being touted as a future star of the England team. He is a shining light in a time when England seems to be struggling for confidence and inspiration.
Wilshere could be the answer to England’s lack of creativity and ideas. England boss Fabio Capello has to start selecting the youngster regularly for the senior squad. He missed out for the squad against Montenegro in the last game and England could have done with his guile in midfield.
Development
If Wilshere wants to become the player that we all expect him to be then he needs to stay at Arsenal. Arsene Wenger has a fantastic record for bringing through youngsters. Wenger has been criticised for not bringing through English youngsters but in Wilshere and teammate Kieran Gibbs the Gunners suddenly have two very good English prospects.
The Professor is the right man to help these young English players become top players. He helped the likes of Patrick Vieira and Thierry Henry to become world class players. Now he has a chance to help Wilshere become all he can be.
The Frenchman has given the young midfielder the chance to impress more this season and it will help him develop. His loan spell at Bolton last season also helped him gain some Premier League experience.
Youngsters
For a long time people have talked about Arsene Wenger’s youngsters maturing into a top team. Wilshere could be the key to Arsene Wenger’s young side becoming a team capable of winning trophies again and Wenger will breathe a sigh of relief when he does to pen to paper on that new contract.
