Arsenal offer Barcelona Guendouzi for Coutinho

According to Sport, Arsenal have offered Barcelona a swap deal which would see Matteo Guendouzi leave north London to join the Catalans and Philippe Coutinho move the other way.

The Gunners are still sweating over the imminent return of Dani Ceballos to Real Madrid at the end of the month and they’re reportedly working hard on finding a solution to keep him, but a proposed addition of Coutinho to their ranks would likely make their need for the Spaniard’s services less pressing.

Barcelona apparently value the Brazilian at €80 million, which is an amount no club has been willing to pay given the current financial situation caused by the ongoing pandemic. It is the reason why the Catalans have mostly been contacted with loan proposals, rather than offers for a permanent deal which is what they would prefer. On the other hand, Guendouzi has been out of favour with head coach Mikel Arteta lately and has been heavily tipped to leave Arsenal, with Barcelona among the clubs listed as interested in the French midfielder.

Therefore, the Gunners have proposed a swap deal and are now waiting for Barcelona’s answer.
