Arsenal is expected to move for Shakhtar midfielder William if Samir Nasri fails to sign a contract extension.
The Gunners could stay without one of the star performers this season, as Samir Nasri’s contract is set to expire at the end of next season, meaning the midfielder could be sold next summer.
Arsene Wenger is still hoping he will manage to persuade his countryman into staying at the Emirates, but he also has a plan B.
The Frenchman is pondering bid for Shakhtar highly rated midfielder Willian, who has impressed Wenger in the two games Arsenal played against the Ukrainians in the Champions League group stages.
The Gunners, however, face a stiff competition for the Brazilian, who is also tracked by Chelsea and Liverpool.
Shakhtar value Willian at £22 million, but the Gunners are expected to start bidding at £13 million.
