Arsenal’s promising youngster Wellington has joined SD Ponferradina on a season-long loan.
The 19-year-old’s move to the Segunda Division side will be his third temporary spell in Spain after featuring 16 times for Alcoyano in the same league last season – scoring three goals – and also playing for La Liga outfit Levante the year before.
A statement on the Gunners’ official website reads: “Everyone at Arsenal wishes Wellington the best of luck for the coming season at the Estadio El Toralin.”
The attacker has never made a first-team appearance for Arsene Wenger’s side, having been loaned out on his arrival, but did represent them on trial in pre-season friendlies against AFC Wimbledon and Boreham Wood in 2010.
The Brazilian, who has also played for his country at youth level, joined the Premier League side from Fluminense in 2011 after playing 17 games, and scoring one goal, for the Rio-based club in the 2010-11 season.
