Arsenal are working hard to sign Arthur Melo on loan from Juventus for the rest of the season, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Gunners obviously feel the need to reinforce their midfield ranks with a player who can get on the ball and organize their attacks from a deeper position. They had that with Dani Ceballos, who went back to Real Madrid after two seasons at the Emirates, but Granit Xhaka, Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny are all more defence-minded players than playmakers, while Albert Sambi Lokonga obviously lacks proper experience at the age of 22.
The talks between the two clubs are ongoing and the former Barcelona man is open to the idea of moving to North London, but Juventus aren’t ready to accept any proposal yet. Apparently, the Bianconeri wish to find a suitable replacement before allowing Arthur to go anywhere.
The 25-year-old is currently on the fringes of Massimiliano Allegri’s team, having made only three Serie A starts this term. Overall, he’s made 12 appearances in all competitions and is yet to contribute with a goal or an assist.
