Four Arsenal players have signed new contracts, the Premier League club have officially confirmed.
There has been plenty of controversy surrounding David Luiz lately. He was believed to have committed to Arsenal for two years last summer, but it later emerged that it was actually for one year with the club having the option to extend it for one more, which they let expire. It was reported that head coach Mikel Arteta wanted him to stay, but many have questioned that stance after the defender’s horrific performance against Manchester City last week. Now the matter has been settled, and the 33-year-old will remain at the Emirates for another season.
Fullback Cedric Soares, who spent the last six months of his Southampton contract on loan at Arsenal, has also penned a long-term deal, as has centre-back Pablo Mari.
Meanwhile, midfielder Dani Ceballos has signed a short-term extension on his loan from Real Madrid which now enables him to finish the 2019/20 season in north London.
