Arsenal have reached an agreement with Chelsea over the proposed transfer of Jorginho, according to multiple sources. The fee the two clubs have settled on is believed to be set between £10m and 13m.
Arsenal and Chelsea were both very interested in Brighton’s Moises Caicedo, but the message from the Seagulls to both clubs, as well as to the player himself, was consistent – there would be no sale in this window. Chelsea then turned their attention towards Enzo Fernandez and have reportedly informed Benfica about being ready to pay the €120m release clause for the World Cup winner under the right payment terms. Arsenal have, meanwhile, turned their attention to Jorginho with the 31-year-old considered potential surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge once the Fernandez deal is done.
Jorginho has accepted the move across London and has apparently agreed personal terms with the Gunners, who are currently leading the race for the Premier League title. Since joining Chelsea in 2018, Jorginho has won the Champions League, the Europa League, the UEFA Super Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup, as well as Euro 2020 with Italy. It’s not hard to imagine the prospect of completing the set with the Premier League title being his chief motive to join Arsenal at this point.
