Arsenal and Anderlecht have reached an agreement over the proposed transfer of Albert Sambi Lokonga, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The talks between the two clubs lasted a few weeks, with Arsenal seeing their opening bid of around €15 million rejected by the Belgian side. In the end, the two clubs settled on €17.5m, with add-ons to come on top of that and potentially take the full amount to around €21m.
The medical has been penciled in for today (Friday) at the London Colney training base, and should there be no unpleasant surprises there, Lokonga is likely to become Arsenal’s first signing of the summer, with Benfica left-back Nuno Tavares set to follow closely. The 21-year-old apparently rejected two offers from Italy to join Arsenal.
The Gunners are still trying to work out a deal to sign Brighton and Hove Albion defender Ben White, and they’ve recently been credited with strong interest in Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli. These two players are with their national teams at the moment, as England and Italy prepare to face each other in the Euros final on Sunday.
