Arsenal have reached a verbal agreement with Manchester City over the proposed transfer of Oleksandr Zinchenko, according to multiple sources. The fee for the 52-cap Ukraine international is set to be around £30 million.
The Gunners were linked with Zinchenko a while back, but as their interest in Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez grew, so those rumours subsided. However, Manchester United have reportedly won the race for Martinez, leaving Arsenal still in search of a versatile player who can fill in at left-back if needed.
Wasting no time, the North Londoners stepped up their pursuit of Zinchenko, and it was reported a few days ago that they had entered talks with the Premier League champions for the services of the 25-year-old. It appears the negotiations have produced results, and now Arsenal are working on agreeing personal terms with the player.
Zinchenko joined City from Russian club Ufa in 2016, and having spent the first season on loan with PSV Eindhoven, he’s made a total of 127 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side, scoring two goals and producing 12 assists.
Arsenal and Manchester City have now reached verbal agreement in principle for Oleksandr Zinchenko, fee around £30m. Personal terms are still discussed. ⚪️🔴 #AFC
