According to reports in French media, Arsenal are preparing a bid for Bordeaux defender Michael Ciani.
Ciani has been singled out by Arsene Wenger as the man to replace Tottenham-bound William Gallas and it is thought the Gunners are ready to offer 14.4 million euros for the towering centre-back.
Wenger has already signed Laurent Koscielny from Lorient but after Gallas’ departure, he desperately needs cover for the centre-back position.
Arsenal have also contacted Sevilla regarding Sebastien Squillaci, so there is a good chance Wenger will soon have four French speaking centre-backs since, besides the aforementioned players, he can also count on Thomas Vermaelen.
