Arsenal readying bid for James McCarthy

Daily Mail has suggested that Arsenal are set to step up their interest in Everton hotshot James McCarthy.

The Gunners are widely expected to sign a new defensive midfielder in January and the Republic of Ireland international appears to be their primary target.

And while it will not be easy to prize him away from Goodison Park, Arsenal reportedly aim to start the bidding at £16 million.

McCarthy has largely impressed since joining Everton in a £13 million deal from Wigan Athletic, and he continues to be linked with a big club move.

The Toffees will not allow their star player to leave on the cheap, meaning Arsenal will have to delve deep into their pockets if they want to lure the 24-year-old to the Emirates in January.

The Gunners revived their Champions League hopes by winning at Hawthorns and they are now priced at 4/7 for a top 4 finish.

Why don’t you make up your own story instead of circulating trash from the Mail? Why would Everton let their best player go, and for a derisory £16 million? They don’t need Arsenal’s money, or Chelsea’s or the Manchester bookends’, come to that. Or didn’t you notice that the self-proclaimed ‘biggest team in the land’ was unable to prise Baines away last year, and the only players who have left were those surplus to requirements. And, let’s not even start on why McCarthy would want to leave. What would he gain from a move to Arsenal? Zero, is what.
