Arsenal reject Barca bid for Fabregas; Fiorentina star makes a switch to Napoli

Arsenal reject Barca bid for Fabregas

Arsenal have rejected £27m bid from Barcelona for Cesc Fabregas, Daily Mail reports.

Even though they had a £35.5m offer rejected last summer, the Catalans now believe Fabregas is woth much less and have started the bidding at £27m.

The Spaniard had another very difficult season at Arsenal, which led Barca chiefs to lower their valuation of the highly regarded midfielder.

Nonetheless, the Gunners have turned down the starting offer and are thought to be holding out for £50m.

Fabregas has four more years on his contract with Arsenal, but is reportedly keen to return to Camp Nou this summer.

Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola is eager to finally complete the Fabregas signing and has instructed the club chiefs to act accordingly.

Arsenal are aware they are unlikely to keep the Spaniard at the Emirates against his wish and are, therefore, looking to cash in on their most prized asset.

Fiorentina star makes a switch to Napoli

Serie A high-flyers Napoli have announced the signing of midfielder Marco Donadel from Fiorentina on the club’s official website.

The experienced midfielder became a free agent after he had failed to agree a new deal at Artemio Franchi and he has now opted to join the Partenopei.

The 28-year-old signed a four-year deal with the San Paolo outfit, arriving as a replacement for Michele Pazienza, who has recently joined Juventus.

The player has revealed that he is looking forward to the new challenge.

“I am really looking forward to playing in such a historic and atmospheric stadium as the Stadio San Paolo,” Donadel was quoted as saying.

Donadel made his Serie A debut in 2001 after coming through the youth ranks at Milan, and he moved to Fiorentina in 2005 following short stints at Lecce, Parma and Sampdoria.

He has since become an integral part of the Viola squad but after spending six years at Artemio Franchi, Donadel decided it was time for a new challenge.

Malaga complete Joaquin signing

Malaga have announced the capture of former Spain international Joaquin from Valencia for a fee of €4 million.

Led by ambitious owner Sheikh Abdulah Al-Thani, Malaga are determined to close the gap behind leading La Liga sides and they are quickly becoming the biggest spenders in the summer transfer window.

After acquiring several big name signings, Malaga have announced the purchase of midfielder Joaquin on their official website.

The former Spain international was paid €4 million and he has signed a three-year contract with los Boquerones.

Joaquin, who joined Valencia from Betis for staggering €25 million, has recently expressed his desire to leave los Che after losing his place in the starting line-up under Unai Emery.

Joaquin had one year left on his contract with Valencia, which helped Malaga complete the signing at the cut-back price.

The Spaniard has thus become Malaga’s seventh signing of the transfer window, with Ruud van Nistelrooy, Joris Mathijsen, Diego Buenanotte, Jeremy Toulalan, Nacho Monreal and Sergio Sanchez previously making a switch to La Rosaleda.
