After 15 years at Arsenal it looks like Alex Iwobi may be changing shirts. Although his current deal with Arsenal is set to keep him at the Emirates until 2023, Everton have been eyeing the young Nigerian and are hoping to get him on board before the window closes on 8 August. It appears, however, that the two clubs have not as yet managed to strike a deal for the 23-year-old Nigerian international, because the Toffees’ bid of £30 million was rejected, Sky Sports report.
All is not lost, however, as Everton are expected to make a new, improved bid, to secure the forward’s services. In the meantime, Everton are pursuing other deals. They have given up on Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure after their offer of £36.7 million was rejected and are now considering other options to fill the position.
In addition, Everton have shelled more than £50 million to sign central midfielders Andre Gomes from Barcelona (permanently, this time), Jean-Philippe Gbamin from Mainz 05 and Fabian Delph from Manchester City. On the other hand, James McCarthy is reportedly close to leaving for Crystal Palace.
