Arsenal rekindle interest in Gundogan

German media outlet Kicker is reporting that Arsenal are readying a fresh assault on Borussia Dortmund star Ilkay Gundogan.

The Gunners reportedly had a €25 million bid rejected for the Germany midfielder in the winter, but Arsene Wenger is ready to try and lure him to the Emirates at the end of the season.

The Professor has been impressed with the 24-year-old footballer and in turn made him one of the primary targets, although Arsenal are likely to face competition from Manchester United and Barcelona.

Ilkay Gundogan did well to get his career back on track after a 14-month spell on the sidelines and he has been in fine form this term, scoring three goals and setting up as many in 18 Bundesliga outings.

The Germany international has a contract until June 2016 at Signal-Iduna Park, and while he is believed to be close to signing a new deal, his long-term future at the club remains in doubt.
