Arsenal have started another round of talks with Pierre-Emerick Aubemeyang about the possibility of a new contract, according to the Mirror.
Under the terms of the current deal, the Gabonese forward is tied to the club until the summer of 2021 and if he doesn’t sign a new one, Arsenal would be forced to consider a sale at the end of this season in order to avoid the risk of losing him for free.
Getting him to put pen to paper hasn’t been that easy during the negotiations held last autumn, due to the club’s arguably best player being frustrated with the team’s lack of progress under Unai Emery. Constant reports linking him with the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter Milan didn’t help either.
However, with Emery now gone and Arsenal looking notably better on the pitch with Mikel Arteta in charge, they are hopeful the upturn in form would convince Aubameyang to sign a new contract.
