Arsenal set for Evans dissapointment

West Bromwich Albion are set to snub an approach from Arsenal for Jonny Evans, according to the Express.

The Gunners are in desperate need of defensive reinforcements having seen their make-shift back four ship four goals at home to Liverpool in their season opening match on Sunday afternoon.

Gabriel, Per Mertersacker and Laurent Koscielny were all missing as Arsene Wenger’s side fell to their second successive opening defeat though they did go on to finish in second place last season.

The Baggies are keen to keep hold of Evans, who played thirty-four times last season, his first for the West Midlands club, with his one and only goal of the campaign coming in a 2-1 win over Stoke City back in January.

The former Manchester United man has fifty-three caps for Northern Ireland and was part of their squad that went to this summer’s European Championships.
