Arsenal have reached an agreement with Newcastle to sign full-back Mathieu Debuchy, L’Equipe has learned.
The Gunners were on the lookout for a long-term successor to Bacary Sagna and they seem to have opted to recruit his international teammate.
L’Equipe has suggested a fee of around €10 million has been agreed, with the player set to sign a long-term deal with the club as soon as he returns from the World Cup.
After spending ten years at Lille, Debuchy left les Dogues to join Newcastle in January 2013 and has since made 43 Premier League appearances.
The 28-year-old has also established himself as a first team regular in the national team and went on to make four appearances for France at the 2014 World Cup.
Debuchy is now set to join Premier League giants Arsenal, where he is expected to slot straight into the starting line-up, with Carl Jenkinson likely to act as his back up.
