Arsenal in shock bid for Barry

Daily Express is reporting that Arsene Wenger is weighing up a move for Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry.

With the player out of contract in the summer, the Gunners are hoping to steal the England international from under Everton’s noses.

Arsene Wenger reportedly attempted to sign Barry on loan in the summer, but Manchester City rejected the approach as they didn’t want the midfielder to join their title rivals.

The 32-year-old went on to join Everton instead and has largely impressed at Goodison Park, having managed 3 goals and as many assists in 19 Premier League outings.

The Toffees are obviously hoping he will join the club on permanent transfer when his contract expires in the summer, but they could face a stiff competition for the player’s signature from Arsenal.

Everton face a very important game as they play top 4 rivals Tottenham at White Hart Lane, with Roberto Martinez’s side 5/2 to claim maximum points.
