Japanese teenager Ryo Miyaichi has signed for Arsenal and will join the English Premier League giants early in the New Year, the club announced on Saturday.
A statement on Arsenal’s official website said the 18-year-old would start with the club after playing in the All Japan High School Soccer Tournament.
“I am delighted Ryo will be joining us in the New Year,” Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said.
“He trialled with us in the summer and has raw ability which has attracted many clubs around the world.
“I look forward to helping him fulfil his potential here at Arsenal.”
Miyaichi is the second Japanese footballer to have signed for the Gunners, following in the footsteps of international midfielder Junichi Inamoto, who spent one unsuccessful season at the club in 2001/2002.
Inamoto made just two starts for Arsenal before joining Fulham.
