Premier League giants Arsenal are hoping to sign Southampton youngster Callum Slattery, according to Daily Mirror.
The Gunners have been alerted of the player’s potential and they have closely monitored his performances this season.
And with the 16-year-old yet to sign a professional contract with the St Mary’s outfit, the Gunners hope they can snatch him from under Southampton’s noses.
Slattery has been a regular starter for club’s youth teams and is considered one of the most talented players in the youth academy.
The midfielder has been offered a professional contract at St Mary’s, but he has yet to make a decision on his future.
Arsenal recently sent chief scout Steve Rowley to make a check on the player and they are eager to sound out his interest in a move to the Emirates.
The Gunners face a tricky tie with Hull City later today and they have been made 5/6 favourites to win at KC Stadium.
