Arsenal are preparing a mega-offer to beat off Barcelona in the race to sign Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, according to the Metro.
The France international has long been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, while the home of their North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur has also been touted as a possible destination.
La Liga giants Barcelona are also interested, but Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is confident that he can win the race to secure his services.
The 25 year old moved to St Marys in the summer of 2008, and has since turned out for the Saints almost two-hundred and fifty appearances and scored thirteen goals.
He was part of the squads that won back to back promotions from League One to the Premier League, while he has been capped seven times for his country, with one of those appearances coming at last summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil.
