Things have begun moving in the Premier League ahead of the January transfer window. After Liverpool and PSV Eindhoven reached an agreement over the proposed transfer of Cody Gakpo, Arsenal have sent their first offer for the services of Mykhaylo Mudryk to Shakhtar Donetsk, according to multiple sources. The offer is believed to be set at a total of €60 million, with €40m as the guaranteed part and another €20m in add-ons.
However, the Ukrainian club want significantly more than that. Sporting director Darijo Srna recently compared Mudryk’s market value to that of Antony and Jadon Sancho of Manchester United, or Jack Grealish of Manchester City. None of them cost less than €100m.
Nonetheless, Arsenal are thought to be ready to play the long game, aware that they would have to pay more than €60m, and this was just an offer to test the water before plunging in at the deep end.
Mudryk, 21, is under contract with Shakhtar until 2026.
