According to the Telegraph, Arsenal are attempting to sign Freiburg’s Caglar Soyuncu.
The 23-year-old centre-back has played two seasons for the German club, making 47 appearances in all competitions and scoring a single goal in that time.
It seems the North-Londoners are keen on creating a core of young players in the squad with a clear vision of long-term future. Should Soyuncu move to the Emirates, he would join the defensive part of the squad already containing the likes of Hector Bellerin (23), Rob Holding (22) and Ainsley Maitland-Niles (20).
Standing 6’2” tall, Soyuncu is very good in the air as well as with the ball at his feet, and possesses visible leadership qualities. Modeling himself on the likes of former Barcelona captain Carles Puyol and Germany international Mats Hummels, he certainly seems like a shrewd acquisition for the future, one Arsenal would gain a lot from over the course of a number of seasons.
