Sunderland plan to sell midfielder Kieran Richardson at the end of the season, Daily Mail has revealed.
The experienced midfielder has a contract until June 2013 at the Stadium of Light, but everything suggests he will be sold next summer.
The Black Cats offered the former Manchester United play a contract extension, however they are unsure whether the 27-year-old will sign a new deal.
Sunderland boss Martin O’Neill doesn’t want Richardson to enter the final year of his contract and the Northern Irishman is going to suggest the club chiefs to cash in on the player in the summer.
This could alert Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who attempted to sign Richardson in the January transfer window.
Despite being essentially a midfielder, the player was mostly used as a left-back this season and Wenger could jump at the opportunity to sign the player at a cut-back price in the summer, seeing that he needs more cover at left-back position.
Richardson has been in fine form this season, scoring 2 goals and creating 3 assists in 24 Premier League games.
