Arsenal are readying a bid for Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote, according to the Metro.
The 28 year old is set to leave St James’ Park this summer after four years with the North East club, during which time he has made one-hundred and nineteen appearances while his one and only goal for the club came in a famous 4-4 draw with Arsenal in February 2011.
Prior to his switch to the Premier League, he spent two seasons with Dutch Eredivise side Twente while he also had a brief spell on loan with Roda JC whilst he was on the books of Anderlecht.
Lokomotiv Moscow have also been linked with a move for the Ivory Coast international, though the North London club are confident of winning the race to secure his services, and in doing so end their search for another holding midfielder.
The Gunners travel to Everton on Saturday afternoon, and can be backed at 8/5 for the victory.
