Arsenal are interested in signing Marcos Leonardo from Benfica in the January transfer window, according to Fichajes. The report has claimed that Arsenal are ready to pay as much as €30 million in transfer fees for Leonardo and want to get a deal done before other clubs march in.
Leonardo has been on the books of Benfica since the January transfer window when he joined from Brazilian club Santos. The 20-year-old striker scored 13 goals and gave two assists in 30 starts and one substitute appearance in the Brazilian domestic league this season before his move to Benfica. He has scored four goals in seven substitute appearances in Liga Portugal.
Arsenal are third in the Premier League table at the moment with 61 points from 27 matches, two points behind leaders Liverpool and a point behind defending champions and second-placed Manchester City. Meanwhile, Benfica currently find themselves second in the Portuguese Primeira Liga table with 58 points from 24 games, a point behind Sporting Lisbon, who have played 23 games.
