Arsenal are set to continue their pursuit of West Ham captain Declan Rice, according to Sky Sports.
It’s been reported that the Gunners are looking to strengthen their midfield ranks, with Granit Xhaka being on the verge of leaving to join Bayer Leverkusen, and Rice is believed to be their preferred target. The England international, who has rejected an offer of a new contract with the Hammers, is apparently keen to move across London to the Emirates, and agreeing personal terms shouldn’t be a problem.
West Ham reportedly want over £100 million for the services of Rice and his role in their Europa Conference League won’t do much for that demand to be reduced, but the player could help push the proposed transfer along by informing his current club that Arsenal would be his preferred destination.
With other clubs said to be monitoring the situation, it remains to be seen if Arsenal find some kind of an agreement with the Hammers. They’re also thought to be harbouring an interest in Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan and Brighton’s Moises Caicedo.
