Arsenal to hijack Chelsea Lukaku bid

Arsenal have offered £14 million for Anderlecht wonderkid Romelu Lukaku, according to The Sun.

Chelsea were thought to be closing in on the Belgian star, but Arsene Wenger believes that he can beat the Blues to the player’s signature.

Arsenal officials met with the player’s agent Christophe Henrotay yesterday evening and informed him of their interest in the 18-year-old.

The Gunners also tested Anderlecht’s resolve with a £14 million bid, which is reportedly £4 million short of the Belgian club’s valuation of the player.

Barcelona and Real Madrid have also expressed interest in the young striker, but they pulled out of the race when it looked as though Chelsea would lure the youngster to Stamford Bridge.

However, now Arsenal have also joined the race as Wenger believes that Lukaku would be a great addition to the squad.
