According to The Telegraph, Arsenal are planning to make a move for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.
Having played at different youth levels at NK Krsko and NK Domzale in his native Slovenia, Sesko joined RB Salzburg in 2019 and proceeded directly to a two-year loan spell with FC Liefering, before returning to spend the same amount of time at the parent club. Leipzig brought him to Germany last summer for a fee believed to have stood at €24 million, and since then, he’s scored 17 goals and produced two assists in 41 matches across all competitions for the Bundesliga side.
The report quotes German sources in claiming the 20-year-old has a release clause in his contract which previously stood at £43m, but now, as a result of his excellent performances, it has risen significantly and any suitor that completes his transfer would be forced to pay as much as £64m.
Arsenal are looking to strengthen their attacking line, and they believe the 28-cap Slovenia international would provide a different option upfront. Other Premier League clubs are interested as well, but they are aware that the Gunners would be in pole position to land Sesko if they make a concrete move.
