(GSM) – Arsenal are preparing a bid for Germany’s World Cup star Mesut Ozil.

The Daily Star says the Gunners are willing to pay £20 million for the Werder Bremen midfielder who only has one year left on his contract.

Arsenal have been following the 21-year-old sensation for months.

But now, with Cesc Fabregas still a major target for Barcelona, Arsene Wenger is ready to up his offer for Ozil who has also been linked to Real Madrid and Barcelona.

“The Premiership is a great league and teams like Chelsea and Manchester United are very strong,” Ozil told Match of the Day magazine.

“While the World Cup is on, I won’t think about my future – but La Liga and the Premiership have teams where you can win the best trophies.

“I just need time to think. This is about the next three or four years, my future.”
