Larger than life defender David Luiz has been mysteriously absent from the Chelsea team for the past few games, and that fact has not gone unnoticed by the Blues’ Premier League rivals. The Express has reported that Arsenal are readying a £30m bid for the Brazilian international, as they look to fight for their usual top four spot.
The Gunners currently sit fifth in the league table, just one point behind fourth place Liverpool, but they have conceded 20 times this season, giving them the joint worst defensive record inside the top seven.
Injuries to both Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi have limited their success this season, and it is little surprise that Arsene Wenger is looking to bolster his back line.
Luiz has been a stalwart of the Chelsea defence during his two spells in London, and has won the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League and Europa League with the club.
