Arsenal are set to complete the signing of Miguel Almiron from Atlanta United, according to various sources.
A number of media outlets have relayed reports that Atlanta manager Darren Eales told FOX Deportes USA that the 24-year-old’s future has been already decided and he would go to England in the next ‘European winter market’, obviously referring to the January transfer window.
Almiron is an attacking midfielder fully capable of operating on both flanks and through the middle, and may be viewed at the Emirates as the natural replacement for Aaron Ramsey.
Ramsey’s contract situation seems to be in a deadlock with the club having pulled out of all negotiations and all offers withdrawn. What exactly caused this rupture between the player and the club remains a mystery, though most media outlets speculate the Welshman had asked to be paid in the same region as Mesut Ozil – reportedly £350,000 per week.
The transfer of Almiron from the USA will cost the Gunners around £11million.
